Іван Богослов був сином рибалки Заведея і дружини його, Саломії, дочки праведного Йосипа, мужа Марії, Матері Господа Ісуса. Коли його покликав Ісус, його прибраний двоюрідний Брат, то й він і брат його, Яків, відразу покинули сітки рибальські і стали, як казав Господь, ловцями людей. Ловили їх від князя світу цього - для Царства Божого.

По всьому світі мабуть існує віра в магічні слова. Приклад цього пригадую з дитинства. Коли ходили в лісі не можна було згадувати слово "ведмідь" (у нас воно виходило "медвідь"), а казали "вуйко".

У сьогоднішньому Апостолі (Галат 2:16-20) ми чуємо вислів містики Св. Апостола Павла, який каже, що вже не він живе, а Христос проживає в ньому. Такий вислів - вияв глибокої любові Павла до Того, що врятував його від безплідного життя, в якому були великі зусилля здобути впевнення у своїй праведності перед Богом, які однак йому того впевнення не приносили.

Кожному, що терпить, здається, трошки легше стає від того, коли він чи вона трохи поскаржеться комусь. А ще як хтось уважно вислухає та ще й пожаліє. Це природньо. І ми й повинні, як діти Божі, вислуховувати одне одного та жаліти одне одного.

In today's Epistle (Ephesians 2:4-10), Saint Paul says that: "God, Who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and made us sit with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus".

he time of Advent is nearly here: the Lord is coming! Soon we shall be singing the praises of the New-Born Child who is God in the flesh. Soon we shall be joyfully proclaiming the peace which He has made for all eternity between God and human beings, having united Divinity and humanity within Himself in a perfect union.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan in today's Gospel (Luke 10:25-37) may be the most widely known of Jesus' parables. The word, Samaritan, has entered the vocabularies of many world languages as a synonym of a person who does a good deed for someone they don't know, whom they find to be in need.

In today's Epistle (Ephesians 5:9-19) we find our teacher, the Holy Apostle Paul, exhorting us to address "one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father".

As He was healing the hitherto unfortunate woman who had been ill for eighteen years, Jesus also wanted to heal the spiritual ills of those who were witnesses to the miracle described in today's Gospel (Luke 13:10-17).
