Over the past several years I have seen many non-Ukrainian people come through our parishes. Some are married to Ukrainian Orthodox Christians. Others have heard of Orthodoxy and come for a closer look. Still others just drop by, checking things out. Regardless of how they come, sooner or later they ask the same question: "What does a Ukrainian parish have to offer me?"

It is the immeasurable mystery in Christianity that enables suffering to meet with and embrace thanksgiving. This is the essence of the Eucharist - to offer thanks to God for His creation although creation is presently marred by sin. But when we face the Holodomor we are struck with the incongruity of seeing a benevolent God behind the bloody history that envelopes mankind...

During that nightmarish year of 1933, somewhere between 7-10 million people died, one-third of whom were children...

Слова Святого Павла про спасіння в сьогоднішньому Апостолі (Рим. 10:1- 10) дуже нас заохочують: «[К]оли ти устами своїми визнаватимеш Ісуса за Господа, і будеш вірувати в своїм серці, що Бог воскресив Його з мертвих, то спасешся»...

The horrible event of December 14, 2012, the death of 28 people – 20 of them young children in a school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, USA – fills us with profound sadness and dismay.
