Of the last week and week-end of November, on Mon Nov 30th:
Слава Богу за все! Glory be to God for all His many blessings!
Our God who loves us to an extent that we cannot begin to imagine or comprehend also send us His Providence for us to go and grow through the trials and tribulations of this life.
Last week and over the week-end especially, we were called to commemorate the Holodomor, to pray for the victims of the Holodomor, and to demonstrate our resolve to not let it happen ever again.
We do this in the midst of a public health pandemic, and its effects on all of us and our whole society around us.
This past week-end also brought about the start of the Holy Advent (Fasting) season of forty days leading to the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
And, as the Hand of God would have it – the gospel reading for the 25th Sunday after Pentecost, (about the Merciful [or “Good”] Samaritan,) includes the passage where the young lawyer responds to Our Lord’s query of him by stating that “the law” calls for us to “love the Lord, our God with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our strength, and all of our mind…”
Let us all strive to persevere, to love, to serve, to pray, to remain firm in our resolve to not waver or falter, and to continue being faithful to our calling to do as “the law,” and indeed Our Loving God has called us to do and be, and has and does provide what we need to do it.
A blessed week ahead to everyone, and a blessed preparation for the Feast of the Presentation of the Mother of God in the
Temple on Friday (Dec 4th.)
