Greetings from His Grace Bishop Ilarion, Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral UOCC on the occasion of the 80th birthday of The Rt. Rev. Protopresbyter Wasyl Wasyliw.

Fr. Wasyl Wasyliw was born on September 6, 1941 in Radway, Alberta.  He moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he studied at St. Andrew’s College and received a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1971. He also  received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1971 and in 1972, a Certificate in Education. He married Marusia on September 19, 1964. On January 16, 1966, he was ordained into the Holy Diaconate by the Hand of Metropolitan Ilarion in St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral, Winnipeg. On December 4, 1966, Fr. Wasyl was ordained into the Holy Priesthood by the hand of Metropolitan Ilarion in St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral, Winnipeg. Fr. Wasyliw served in various parishes in Manitoba, including the Vita parish, Winnipeg (Transcona and St. Michael parishes), and St. Andrew’s College. He served as a Consistory member for three terms: 1980-85, 1995-2000, 2000-2005. He also served as supply priest January – August, 1976. He has been awarded the following: Nabedrenyk, Scoufia, Golden Cross, Archpriest title, Metropolitan Certificates in 1987,1988, Epigonat, Jewelled Cross, Mitre, Protopresbyter title, and Double Cross for 50 years of Priesthood. Fr. Wasyl and Dobr. Marusia are blessed with two sons, Taras and Marko. 

On the occasion of his 80th Birthday, I extend my sincerest greetings and archpastoral blessings.  May God strengthen Fr. Wasyl spiritually and physically for many years to come!
