Greetings from His Grace Bishop Ilarion, Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral UOCC on the occasion of the 80th birthday of The Very Rev. Archpriest Stephen Slipko.

Fr. Stephen Slipko was born on July 30, 1941. As a young man he came from Ambridge, Pennsylvania, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in order to study Theology at St. Andrew’s College. While a student, Stephen met Mary Olynyk of Buchanan, SK. The two were married in May 14, 1966. On June 1, 1966, Stephen was ordained into the Holy Diaconate by the Hand of Metropolitan John (Theodorvych). In December 24, 1967, Fr. Stephen was ordained into the Holy Priesthood, by the Hand of Archbishop Mystyslav (Skrypnyk), in New York City. Fr. Stephen served at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Slickville, PA. until 1976. Upon returning to Canada, Fr. Stephen served in various parishes in British Columbia, in a number of jurisdictions. Fr. Stephen is now attached to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Surrey, BC. and serves the parishes of St. Mary the Protectress in Mission, BC and St. Demetrius in Chilliwack, BC. 

On the occasion of his 80th Birthday, I extend my sincerest greetings and archpastoral blessings.  May God strengthen Fr. Stephen spiritually and physically for many years to come!
